We are tired of hearing this.

“We accept you.”

10 letters.

A promise.

So easily spoken.

So easily broken.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

“Love the sinner, hate the sin.”

Different words.

Same meaning.

You try to drown out the voices,

the accusatory glare of the people

you thought you knew.

As the promise of loving you forever lay forgotten,

the promise of holding you up when you fall unkept.

You reach out through the darkness

desperate to cling onto a ray of hope,

of comfort, of home, of proper acceptance.

Your trembling fingers clutch emptiness,

lies, broken promises.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

You knew.

In your mind you knew.

But still you believed them.

And now,

it cuts through your heart like a dagger.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

words like

“It’s just a phase.”

“You are just confused.”

“It’s your insecure mind trying to find comfort in strength.”

bounce off the walls as I try to find myself,

amongst the piles of lies

I’ve spun around me,

hiding me

from myself.

You think you know me.

I can see that in your eyes.

(Or is it an attempt at denying

by living blissfully with a lie?)

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

Accept the fact.

You don’t believe those clever words you spin

to assure me.

You don’t accept me.

You don’t love me.

You tolerate me.

Accept it

deep down,

you think it’s unnatural.

No, don’t tell me how you don’t support bigotry,

but how I should respect other’s opinions,

opinions that makes an impact on my life,

lives of LGBT people around the world,

while you debate on issues that barely impacts your life.

No. You don’t care about me.

It’s time you realize that.

It’s time you stop pretending you do.
